Need to write? Jotx Escribe Writing Sessions:

Please note starting in the Fall 2024 these will change to Mountain time (MT).

Every Monday, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (EST), I host Jotx Escribe on Zoom. It's a dedicated space created for jotxs (queer/trans-Latinx) doctoral candidates and early career scholars. Participants can engage in focused, timed writing sessions, nurturing discipline and community connection.

I invite you to engage, participate, and thrive in these initiatives as we grow and learn together.

Outreach: Mentorship & Writing Workshops

Queertorship:

As a passionate advocate for education and well-being, I offer a unique form of mentorship affectionately termed "queertorship." This is particularly tailored for trans and non-binary BIPOC students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The essence of queertorship is not just academic guidance but a holistic approach. By leveraging communal knowledge, I aim to address and support students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological well-being. I'm honored to have been nominated for the 2021 UC Berkeley Graduate "Outstanding Graduate Student Peer Mentor Award" in recognition of these efforts.

Writing Workshops & Retreats:

Believing in collective effort and community power, I organize and lead writing workshops and retreats specifically designed for graduate students, focusing on women of color and queer, trans-BIPOC individuals. My vision is to transform the perception of graduate writing from being an isolating, competitive endeavor to a collaborative, generative process. I aim to foster a supportive environment that champions collaboration by steering away from models based on scarcity and competition. These workshops and retreats are versatile, available on college campuses or at scenic regional destinations to invigorate the creative process.
